Project Description
… What I believe is really important is to get a balance in property between the guys out there shouting about their massive deals and the multi-millions and show that this is accessible to the ordinary working man and woman. What is more important as a message is not that it’s about get rich quick but UNDERSTAND the MONEY now!
I feel I would be better positioned as an unsung hero that provides homes for my tenants, helps my clients build their own portfolio through sourcing or mentoring based on a better understanding of what’s important to them and how an alternative (wage-independent) source of income is not only sensible and a good use of their financial resources but vital for their peace of mind. I also spend a lot of time helping the people I speak with really get to grips with their finances and understand what schools don’t teach us.

I started investing in property 2008 following redundancy from a job I loved as a university lecturer. Within five years I had built a family property portfolio and a property sourcing and training business. In 2013 I was named in The Telegraph’s as one of the UK’s top 25 most influential people in property. It’s been said that I am an inspiring speaker and I have published five books including The Wealthy Retirement Plan: A revolutionary guide to living the rest of your life in style which became a finalist in the Business Book Awards in March 2020. I have been a regular on podcasts across Europe, America and Canada as well as the UK during lockdown – featuring on over 40+ interviews and internet shows.
Since first recognising property as the best strategy to create our own financial security, I have shied away from the “get rich” gurus and their flash cars and shiny shoes. My talks have been straight talking and brutally honest. I would tell you that being successful in any business, especially property investment takes commitment and hard work. All business success is based on a good understanding of the market and an even better understanding of the maths involved.
I spend a lot of my time offering business consultancy alongside the property training and a property sourcing business. In recent years I have helped clients invest over £5 million pounds and bought over 70 properties. My investors typically earn 10-20% interest over three years and deals have included traditional buy-to-lets, HMO’s, semi-commercial units, developments, barn conversions and good deal of sourcing. Not bad for a “made-redundant” “single-parent”!
When not on holiday scuba diving (in the old days!) as my alter-ego The Property Mermaid, I love having time with my growing family; now with two grandchildren, and recently discovered a love for gardening – COVID induced of course. I might need to change my nickname to The Property Forager or the Property Propagator!

One of my books Property for the Next Generation talks about the changing nature of property and your status is not dependant on owning your own home but rather living the life of your choice. And my latest book The Wealthy Retirement Plan is encouraging everyone to plan for tomorrow and take charge of their financial futures now before its too late.
