Getting clear on why your goals matter, the potential consequences if your goal is not met, and the longer-term benefits of achieving your goal can be powerful motors to propel you to success.

Why do you want to start working out? Mitigating the risk of heart disease, remaining independent in your older years and better enjoying your life are deeper and more powerful reasons than “my doctor told me to” or “I want to look better.” Why do you want to build wealth? Passing a legacy to your children or personal charity and securing time freedom are profoundly more motivating than “I want to buy more things or “I want to be better than my brother.”
